The Barony of Eastcrest, commonly referred to as simply Eastcrest Estate, or merely Eastcrest, is a rarely visited parcel of land nestled between Eastern Elwynn's rugged hills, and winding rivers. Known by most for its troubled history and treasonous former lordship, the Estate has seen better days. Following the execution Lady Sophaen Rosewing, the Lady's estate and holdings were entrusted with Sir Terran Lloyd.
“The dirt ridden jewel of a wrought iron crown.”
–An unknown lord appraising the estate
In modern days, the Estate has risen from the mistreatment and abuse of Lady Rosewing. Under Sir Lloyd's care, Eastcrest has been afforded a time of regrowth and revitalization. As such, it's agricultural production has grown sufficiently to provide for all denizens of the Barony, as well as for nearby territories.
The Citizens of Eastcrest are a hearty if distrustful people, years of abuse at the hands of poorly conceived nobility, along with years of war and suffering, as Azeroth is so proclived towards. Though forged in trial, the people of Eastcrest have grown resilient, and have a soft spot for those they can identify with.
Despite their distrust for rulers and leadership, the people of Eastcrest `
Within the Barony a fledgling clergy has begun to take shape under the maxims of High Priest, Dame, Annabelle Baker. In time a chapel is to be constructed within a new settlement, Baker's Gambit. In spite of the Barony's lacking clergy, many of its denizens fervently follow the Church of the Holy Light.
Eastcrest Estate, nestled along the Barony's southern river border, serves as the seat of House Lloyd. The estate itself is larger than any reasonable individual would deem necessary. Built following the Third War with misappropriated funds, the estate was intended to be the seat of Lady Rosewing's sphere; however, it received extensive damage in the face of her wild magic experimentation. When the Estate came under Sir Lloyd's purview a full reconstruction effort began. The estate's excessive furnishings were sold, replaced with modest alternatives where necessary. The bones of the estate were reconstructed by Kiersa in an extensive undertaking. Now the estate stands as a shade of its former self, a muddled beacon representative of the Barony's renewal.
The first and principle farm of Eastcrest, Serenity, named by Lady Sophaen Rosewing as it sounded 'quaint.' Serenity boasts the most verdant and productive farmland, focused entirely on wheat production and processing. Serenity owes it's successful productions to recent innovations in irrigation systems within the land, designed and implemented by Sir Terran Lloyd with the aid of Arcane magic.
Settled atop the region's namesake Crest, Bracken Hill serves the Barony as its foremost provider of Carrots, Tubers, and other root vegetables. Bracken Hill is the oldest settlement on Eastcrest's land, established long before the first war by the Kendrick family. Prior to the founding of the Barony of Eastcrest, Bracken Hill was an unincorporated settlement on account of its unimportantance and lackluster crop supply. Hazed during the First War, the farmland was re-established by Lady Rosewing, set to introduce the finest Thalasian crops to the Stormwind Populace; the efforts were a remarkable failure.
Sitting upon the outskirts of Eastcrest's Estate, Crow's Rest is the smallest of the three farms, managed by the Duff family and focused entirely on small batches of pickled cucumbers, grown locally and pickled in house. Crow's Rest uses it's small farmland to its advantage, acting as the principle storehouse for food and supplies for the entirety of the Barony through the winter.
A fledgling settlement nestled at the crossroads between all of the Barony of Eastcrest's settlements. Formed around the Lindsby Chapel, a new construction initiative driven by High Priest Annabelle Baker.
Region: Elwynn Forest
Ruler: Sir Terran D. Lloyd
Population: 701
The Barony of Eastcrest's economy sits atop a three footed stool; though, the lion's share of its economic output comes from the agricultural production by the Barony's farmland. Aside from it's agricultural endeavors, the Barony of Eastcrest serves as the home for a thriving Arcane Blacksmith and his workshop, offering quality weaponry and armaments to allies of the Barony. Finally, through its southern river border, the Estate serves as a trading stop for ships traveling south within the Kingdom of Stormwind.
Wheat, Carrots, Potatoes, Arms & Armaments, Enchantments, Lumber, Clay, Stone
The Barony of Eastcrest is populated predominantly by Stormwindian Humans (75%), a small population of various northern kingdom refugees from the second war (20%), as well as a very small number of High Elves who settled in the region alonside the former lord (5%)
House Lloyd, ruling house of the Barony of Eastcrest, is a young Noble House, founded in the aftermath of the Fourth War. Lead by lordling Sir Terran Lloyd, House Lloyd has been entrusted with the territory of Lady Sophaen Rosewing, following her execution. Invigorated by opportunity, House Lloyd seeks to right the wrongs of its inherited legacy and forge a new day for its people.
As the Barony of Eastcrest sits largely upon the Stone Cairn river the region regularly deals with the ebb and flows of local murloc populations. Every year from the beginning of spring to the onset of autumn murlocs will routinely flood through the region- only to be pushed back by the locals usually rather painlessly. Recent years have had earlier springs which has extended the murloc season making it increasingly more difficult to manage. Murlocs have primarily been threats to those of Crow's Rest and Serenity Farms. Lindsby and Brackenhill are largely spared from the tide of murlocs.
Though less common than Murlocs, the Bracken Hills are occasionally beset by roaming bands of subterranean Kobolds who tunnel into the lower sections of the mines- then push up above ground. Historically these Kobold booms have been pushed back by the Stormwind Army's Eastvale Garrison.
The forests of the Barony of Eastcrest have largely been spared of any grand threats, yet as the region has begun to grow and prosper an increasing number of poachers have been reported within the forests.
The Barony of Eastcrest was founded in 605 K.Y. when the region was purchased by Lady Sophaen Rosewing of Quel'Thalas in a diplomatic bid of support during the post-second war reconstructions. Though initially purchased for the pretentious whims of a self important elf, Eastcrest came to be the home of Lady Sophaen Rosewing following the destruction of Quel'Thalas, a turn of events the region has yet to recover from.
In the aftermath of the Third War, the Barony of Eastcrest began to receive the first inklings of its now well pronounced misfortunes, as Lady Rosewing took proper control of the region. Any and all available funds quickly became misdirected to the construction of the grand estate, a pretentious throne to an undeserving Lady. Her ever incoherent whims forged into reality; unlicensed telemancy experiments, dangerously unstable pocket dimensions, and a general disrespect for reality and for the Arcane forces Lady Rosewing commanded.
The misappropriation of funds, and wild magic quickly began to tear at the land, twisting Ley-lines beyond stability, and causing the once fertile lands to grow ever barren. Despite countless petition from the Kendrick family, no assistance from Stormwind, nor ejection of Lady Rosewing came. It was years before the land was offered the respite it so readily required.
With the turn of the decade and the Legion's invasion drawing to a close, Lady Rosewing sought her grandest act of insanity, warmongering. Though she did not act alone, Lady Rosewing allied with a rogue Stormwindian marshal in a bid to invade Lordearon mere months before the War of Thorns began in Kalimdor. Their grand treason was brought to heel in course, and Lady Rosewing was offered her just desserts, execution.
In the aftermath of Lady Rosewing's execution, the Barony of Eastcrest, and all of Lady Rosewing's territories, was reclaimed by House Wrynn, with the intent to place under the control of a trusted Vassal. Unfortunately, the matter of Eastcrest paled in comparison to the encroaching War of Thorns, and Fourth War, leaving Eastcrest unattended to for two years.
Near the conclusion of the fourth war, with the Knighting and Vassalization of Sir Terran Lloyd, the Barony was entrusted in his capable hands. Though under new leadership, the land had been left in squalor, lacking direction or support. It has been Terran’s solemn mission to restore the land and the Estate so that he may improve the livelihood of his people.
Under Sir Lloyd's Leadership the Barony has been afforded the chance to find revitalization. Farmland has been rebuilt and improved upon, investment into roadways and infrastructure has improved citizens access to the greater Kingdom, and river access has been improved for all citizens. Though the region remains a far cry from the success of better maintained territories, it has the potential to rise above its legacy.
